Dance Arena 2018

Beautiful performances and the chance to try something new!

Our Dance Arena always has a fantastic community vibe and tends to be a gathering point for all those who love the bright, sparkly or dramatic!

There’ll also be FREE workshops running where you’ll have the chance to try dance styles for yourself! There's no need to book, just show up at the dance arena and join in! We'll have experienced workshop leaders running beginner-level throughout the day. All workshops are open to everyone, beginners or regular dancers, any age, any gender!



13:00 - Opening Show

This show will include performances from the following:


Cherry Twirls

Cherry Twirls is a fabulously talented, dynamic hoop artist from Nottingham! She had her first taste of performing at Pagan Pride UK 2016, and since then she hasn’t stopped, performing at a variety of events up and down the UK, as well as local music festivals.

Full of surprises, Cherry loves to mix fast breaks with slow illusions and flowing movements to create her own exciting hoop style. Always eager to push herself to the limits, she’s also begun hooping with fire, and adding a variety of other props like fire fans and poi to her repertoire. This amazing performer can even breathe fire!


Sisters of Tribellica

Sisters of Tribellica are a fantastic alternative bellydance troupe are based in Sheffield. They perform at haflas, festivals, and events all around the region, creating unique routines to various styles of music, resulting in great performances for everyone to enjoy.




Moonhare Tribal Bellydance

Moonhare Tribal Bellydance was founded in 2015 in Derbyshire by Sandra Freeman. Sandra is committed to teaching and promoting FatChanceBellyDance® American Tribal Style® Belly Dance (ATS®), a modern, largely improvised format of dance which draws inspiration from oriental bellydance, Spanish flameco, and classical indian dance.

The Moonhares regularly perform out and about around the midlands, and Sandra frequently runs beginners classes for those wishing to try this beautiful form of dance. Find out more on their website.


Lady Viper

Lady-Viper is an internationally published, sponsed, and signed alternative model and an international performer. She specializes in fire dancing, fire breathing, fire eating, body burning, angle grinding, podium and cage dancing, ams veiled silk fans, as well as interpretive and contemporary dance. We’re so thrilled to have her performing again at this year’s festival.

Pandora's Charms

Pandora’s Charms is a dance duet with Donna and Rose. With ‘firecracker’ Rose loving fast movements, and Donna preferring slow, this use their contrasting styles to their best advantage, which led them to win the Crystal Fleur in Sheffield this year, for their inventive duet which made great use of veils and fan-veils.

Their great enjoyment in dancing together and cheeky style shines through their dance, and brings smiles to their audience.


Florence Moonlight

Florence Moonlight found bellydance sixteen years ago at a hippy festival and now she’s both a teacher and a performer! Her styles of choice are classical Egyptian and Arabic bellydance, which she runs classes in, inLoughborough, as well as performing at a variety events and running workshops.

Capoeira Nottingham

Capoeira is a Brazilian sport, combining dance, martial arts, acrobatics and live music. Capoeira Nottingham will do a performance to show you what it's all about, and let you know how you can give it a go yourself.

13:45 - Magical Family Yoga workshop with Rebecca Yoga Fae

The Yoga Fae and Relax Kids-Wyre Forest are offering a magical family yoga session suitable for all ages and abilities. It’s a chance to connect to your family through playful yoga movements, fun and relaxation. Learn tips to promote peace and calm for all the family through the magic of yoga.

Rebecca Broomfield is a qualified Children’s Yoga Teacher and Relax Kids/Baby Mindful coach. She also works with adults for beginner’s yoga and movement for relaxation classes. Rebecca is currently undertaking another Teacher training course for Kundalini Tantra Yoga which she will complete in July 2018. Find out more on her website.


14:30 - Hooping for Beginners workshop with Cherry Twirls

Hooping is a fantastic, energising pastime that can have a big impact on health and happiness! Have a go at this beginners' hoop workshop, run by the energising Cherry Twirls. Hoops will be provided and everyone is welcome.

A second chance to catch the elegant Lady Viper in action as she performs another beautiful routine.


Pandora's Pearls

Pandora’s Pearls are a lively bunch of ladies from different walks of life, and with a definite zest for life! Each member of the group is a unique pearl, but together they form interesting styles of fusion bellydance, mixing it with other forms from 1920’s swing to traditional Egyptian dance.



Performing a fantastic solo, the steamhooper is usually one half of the duo Cogs & Steam, and hoops with a steampunk twist!


Diamond Dancers

Dance duet by Gaynor Fairweather and Judith Overton, who perform dance styles in an unconventional way. Their styles include bellydance, medieval dance and cabaret gypsy style. Gaynor Fairweather will also be teaching a workshop at 4:15pm on imaginative and improvised movement.


Hoochie Kuchi

Hoochie Kuchi are Ilkeston’s only bellydance troupe! They fuse together a variety of styles including Turkish and Egyptian, and regularly welcome newcomers into their group. They’re excited to be performing for you at Pagan Pride UK this year, and we recommend catching them in action at the Dance Arena!


Victor Vortex

Victor Vortex started his hoop journey over three years ago, inspired by the hooping talent of his daughter. Now he’s an alternative hoop artist who’s performed in the UK and Europe. He often collaborates with other performers to offer a totally new hooping experience, dancing to industrial/gothic dance floor beats as the group, Dærķ Pląñəţ.


15:45 - Unicorn Dressage Competition

To add some magical sparkles to our guests’ day, we will be holding our very first UNICORN DRESSAGE COMPETITION!

Run by the fantastically colourful and talented Cherry Twirls, a champion trainer of unicorns, this event is bound to add a touch of enchantment to your day. Guests will have the chance to not only watch top unicorn trainers trot and canter to victory, but to have a go themselves! Particularly recommended for younger guests and the young at heart, but all are welcome!


16:15 - Free Expression through Dance workshop with Gaynor Fairweather

Join the lovely Gaynor for a mind-freeing workshop based on improvised movement. Using your own intuitive emotional responses to the music, along with visualisation techniques, this workshop will help you tap into the creative, expressive aspects of your own nature. By doing so, Gaynor will show you how to enter a light trance state where you can encounter, acknowledge and release any stress, tension, or unresolved issues. Alternatively, you can use these techniques as a simple means of spontaneous, creative self-expression to help you relax.

Gaynor is a member of equity, and a registered exercise professional with a BA (Hons) in dance and movement, exercise to music and fitness knowledge qualifications, who has been teaching nineteen years. Find out more about her on her website.

A second performance from this talented alternative bellydance group.



Pagan and self-professed 'Sparkle Goth' into all things spooky, this vibrant, expressive dancer is skilled in cabaret and gothic fusion bellydance.

Regular guests may remember her from her previous performances with Cobra Mystique, but this year, Nyxie is going solo. She'll be performing a mythical, enchanting routine of feral hearts, danced with etheral movements with a mystical, spectral feel.


Moonhare Tribal Bellydance

Another chance to see this beautiful tribal bellydance troupe perform.


Clare Jenning

A firm believer in the life-changing power of hooping, Clare originally met her Hoop teacher, Emma Petkovic during a tough time in her life. Having powered through her low points with courage and dedication, Clare is now a colourful and lively hoop dancer, with a whole stack of hoops and a long list of tricks.

No stranger to performing, Clare has danced with the Sparkle Hoop troupe at Pagan Pride UK 2016 and at the Hockley Hustle, as well as performing with other amazing hoop artists at Light Night. Now this whirling warrior woman will be making her debut solo performance at Pagan Pride UK 2018, hoping to inspire others to pick up a hoop and see what journey it takes them on.


Cherry Twirls

A second solo performance from this up-and-coming hoop artist.


Nenedhel Absynthium

Nenedhel Absynthium started her sparkly career on the stage at the BCB newbie competition in December 2010. Since then she has traversed the UK, gracing audiences with her poised and polished routines.

Skilled in many arts from circus to stiltwalking, burlesque to modelling to trapeze, she performs all over the country and even aboard in events like the World Burlesque Games. She’s adept at merging styles like tribal fusion bellydance, gothic, and even cheesecake with edge undertones. This year you can catch her stiltwalking around the festival in a brand new guise, as well as giving a fantastic poi performance at the dance arena.


Ohana Tribal

Ohana Tribal are the student group of Koyuki Tribal, a Fat Chance Belly Dance Sister Studio. They perform American Tribal Style® Belly Dance (ATS®), a modern style of dance created by FatChanceBellyDance® director, Carolena Nericcio-Bohlman.


This show will be followed by free dance time, where all guests are welcome to come and have a shimmy!
